Meet Our Staff
David Bates, DDS
Dr. David Bates is a 2009 graduate of the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. After 8 years in Southern California, he moved back to the Twin Cities and joined Bates Dental Care.
Dr. Bates is an active member of the Twin Cities’ dental community and was named the 2017 recipient of the Minnesota Dental Association’s New Dentist Leadership Award, which recognized, “his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty in ensuring the success of organized dentistry and never hesitating to serve when needed.” Dr. Bates is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association and the Saint Paul District Dental Society. He is also a past president of the Saint Paul District Dental Society Speakers’ Bureau, which he has been a member of since 2009. In addition, he is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, has served on the 2013-2014 Minnesota Dental Association Constitution, Ethics and Bylaws Committee, and has been a delegate to the Minnesota Dental Association House of Delegates since 2013. He is also currently a member of the Minnesota Dental Association Resolution Review Committee. Dr. Bates was a member of the first graduating class of the Great Lakes Implant Institute and believes in staying ahead of the curve on the latest dental techniques and technology.
When away from the office, Dr. Bates enjoys spending time with his wife, their two boys and their two dogs. He is an avid traveler, skier, runner, and swimmer. He loves living in Minnesota, and he especially looks forward to the warm summer months.
Katie Hannon, DDS
Dr. Katie Hannon grew up in Willmar, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota for both undergraduate and dental school, where she graduated with distinction. Dr. Hannon enjoys a wide range of dental procedures and loves establishing a personal connection with each of her patients. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
Outside of the office, Dr. Hannon enjoys yoga, the lakes and exploring the Twin Cities’ restaurant scene. She is an avid Minnesota sports fans, so you can often find her at a Gophers’ game or cheering on the Vikings.
Cindy, Receptionist & Admin
Cindy has been a staple at the Bates Dental Care front desk for 40 years. She loves getting to know our patients and working with them to ensure that their scheduling and billing needs are met in a timely manner. Outside of the office, Cindy enjoys spending time with her family and being up North.
Nikki, Dental Assistant / Office Manager
Nikki is a licensed dental assistant and has been working for Bates Dental Care since 1998. She takes great pride in her job and enjoys providing the best level of care and service to our wonderful patients.
In addition to enjoying spending time with her “second family” at Bates Dental Care, she loves spending time with her husband Steve and their two boys. Nikki graduated from Century College and is a member of the American Dental Assistants Association.
Shanna, Dental Hygienist
Shanna obtained her AAS degree for Dental Hygiene at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN in 2012. Shanna stays current with her continuing education courses and is working towards a BA degree in Dental Hygiene. She loves providing excellent care to her patients. Shanna takes pride in helping others and making them feel at ease in the dental chair. Outside of work, she stays busy with her son, Isaac, and dog, Paco. Shanna and her family enjoy staying active with yoga, biking, and hockey.
